The Roman Frontiers Early Career Researchers Network, together with the
Römisch-Germanische Kommission of the DAI and Johannes Gutenberg-Universität, is hosting an in-person research workshop 21-25 July, 2025 at the RGK. In the framework of a writing and research retreat, the workshop will offer skills development, networking opportunities, and unparalleled resources for work on Roman frontiers. The workshop days will be split between participant presentations, moderated by an international panel of frontiers scholars, and uninterrupted time in the RGK Library, which holds the most extensive collection of frontier publications in Europe.

The workshop will provide accommodation and travel stipends for a limited number of participants from outside the Rhein-Main region. Places (without accommodation or travel stipend) are reserved for JGU students and those from the Rhein-Main-Universitäten.
Participation is by application, applications are due 15 March, 2025. Applicants should be writing their PhD dissertation or early (within 6 years of degree) postdoctoral stages of their career.
