Inhalt

The ASIL team is delighted to announce the next event in our "Go Digital" series: a two-day workshop on DATA LITERACY. Data literacy is an essential future skill of the 21st century. It is defined as the ability to solve problems through analysis, use, and interpretation of data, which are the basis of the analysed phenomena. In the field of Ancient Studies, data analysis has always been at the forefront of research, enhanced by technical solutions in the last few decades. While data handling and management can still pose a challenge to students and researchers, with the right training the skills needed to structure data and use databases effectively can be gained.

The Ancient Sciences Innovation Lab (ASIL) team is therefore excited to invite everyone interested in enhancing their digital skills to our workshop, which will offer an introduction to some general points of data handling. The workshop will offer the opportunity to

• discover how data sets are generated from ancient finds and environments
• structure data in the best way to answer research questions
• learn how existing information can be used create own datasets
• see how data can be transformed from simple tables and handwritten sheets into useful frameworks and databases
• get to know the basic elements of databases and how to use them to your advantage

We are pleased to welcome students, doctoral students, researchers and teaching personnel from the Ancient Studies to our hands-on practical workshop.
